Toasting marshmallows over a crackling fire is a summer highlight. To celebrate the start of summer, we gave s’mores kits to our friends and neighbors. It’s the perfect excuse to gather around a campfire, make some unforgettable memories, and enjoy a classic s’more together.
This post is about how I make s’mores gift boxes to show appreciation and friendship.

NATIONAL S’MORES DAY IS AUGUST 10
Where did S’mores come from? I did a little research, the first recipe for S’mores appeared in print in 1927. It was published in a guidebook for the Girl Scouts of America. The guidebook was called Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. This Girl Scout’s guidebook included recipes for food that can be prepared in the woods and cooked over a campfire. The name comes from the idea that your campfire treat is so good, you will want ‘some more.’
1 | SHOP FOR GOODIES
You can include other fun ingredients in the S’mores Gift Boxes besides the normal Hershey Bars and Graham crackers. The kits I make include marshmallows, Keebler Fudge Stripe Cookies, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Hershey Bars. Additionally, Thin Mints, Carmello Squares, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Peppermint Pattys are other great ideas. So many different options to try. My favorite is a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup with a marshmallow between two Graham Crackers.

2 | GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES
To create a S’mores Gift Box, you will need a few items. Supplies include a treat box, treat bags, burlap paper and ribbon twine. They can be purchased at Michael’s, but Amazon has a larger variety to choose from.

2 | ASSEMBLE THE S’MORES GIFT BOX AND FILL WITH GOODIES
First, fill a cookie treat bag with 10 Keebler Fudge Stripe Cookies, then place the cookies in the corner.

Second, place two packages of Graham Crackers in the S’mores Gift box.

Third, add a bag of marshmallows.

Finally, add six Hershey Chocolate bars and three packages of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

3 | MEASURE AND CUT THE BURLAP PAPER
The box is 8″ x 8″, so measure an 8″ x 8″ square of burlap and cut it out.

Next, create a 5″ x 5″ label which you can adhere to the burlap paper with double stick tape. Suggestion: Print the card on Gloss photo paper, the colors will look more vibrant. Some ideas I have used include: “You are appreciated S’more than you know.” “You’re friendship means S’more than you know.” “Looking forward to making S’more Summer Memories, so thankful for your friendship.” It’s easy to get creative with the word S’more.
4 | ATTACH LABEL TO INSIDE OF COVER OF S’MORE GIFT BOX
Stick the 5″ x 5″ card to the burlap square using a tape gun or double stick tape. Then tape the burlap card inside the top cover of the S’more Gift Box so it shows through the window.

5 | USE RAFFIA RIBBON TO TIE THE S’MORES GIFT BOX TOGETHER
Such an adorable gift idea to give to a neighbor, friend or Co-worker. Without a doubt, this a fun way to show your friends how much you appreciate and care about them.

Life is short, so do something kind for someone. It’s easy to put off, but this S’mores Gift Box is so easy and fun to make. You can make several at once, it takes less time than you think. CLICK HERE to see a similar gift box I gave to some coworkers to show my appreciation.
