In this post, I’ll show you how I created personalized etched wine glasses as Valentine’s Day gifts. With just a few easy steps, I turned simple Dollar Store glassware into something truly special. This DIY wine glass project is not only perfect for Valentine’s Day, but perfect for any occasion. Let’s dive in and add a little love to your glassware!
This post is all about creating personalized etched wine glass gifts.

1 | GATHER SUPPLIES
Creating an etched wine glass is a fun and creative DIY project that requires just a few supplies. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Stemless Wine Glass – A smooth, clear glass works best, purchased them at the Dollar Store.
- Isopropyl Alcohol – Used to clean the glass surface before applying the etching cream for better adhesion.
- Cotton Balls – Useful for cleaning the glass before and after etching.
- Armour Etch – A specialized etching cream that creates a permanent frosted effect on glass surfaces.
- Small Brush – Used to apply the etching cream evenly onto your design.
- Decorative Shred – Optional, but great for packaging if you plan to gift your finished glass.

2 | DESIGN AND WEED TEMPLATE FOR THE ETCHED WINE GLASS
Design your template, cut it out using a Cricut machine and then weed out the areas to be etched.

3 | PREPARE THE WINE GLASS
Use a cotton ball and isopropyl alcohol to clean the wine glass before applying the stencil.

4 | APPLY THE STENCIL TO THE FUTRUE ETCHED WINE GLASS
First, apply transfer tape to the vinyl stencil. Next, place the stencil onto the wine glass and carefully remove the transfer tape. Finally, secure painters tape around the stencil to protect the rest of the glass from the etching cream.

5 | APPLY ETCHING CREAM
Take a brush and apply the etching cream generously over the exposed areas of the stencil. To prevent the cream from seeping under the stencil, dab it onto the glass rather than brushing. Let it set for about 10 to 15 minutes to create the etched wine glass.

6 | RINSE THE ETCHED WINE GLASS
Take your brush and scoop up the excess etching cream, then return it to the jar. Afterward, rinse the wine glass under the faucet, using the brush to scrub off any remaining cream. Finally peel the tape and stencil off of the glass.

7 | FILL THE ETCHED WINE GLASS WITH TREATS
Target had some great selections of Valentine’s Day candy, so I picked out pretty pink and red wrapped candies. Next, I added pink paper shred from the Dollar Store to the inside of the glass. Finally, I filled the glass with the candy.

8 | WRAP THE ETCHED WINE GLASS WITH TOOLE AND TIE WITH RIBBON
Wrap with pink tulle and tie it with pink ribbon. I cut out some hearts using my Cricut, then I punched a hole in the corner of each heart. Finally, I tied them to the ribbon.

To finish the gift, I added a cute little bottle of sparkling wine from Total Wine to the gift bag.

9 | PACKAGE THE ETCHED WINE GLASS AND THE MINI BOTTLE OF SPARKLING WINE
Package the wine glass and the mini bottle of sparkling wine together. Place the candy-filled wine glass and mini bottle into a gift bag. Secure the gift with tissue paper or extra shred and tie with a ribbon.
