Embracing Life with an Emptier Nest
Welcome! Since you landed on this page, chances are good that you’re also an Empty Nester.
Perhaps you can relate to this As an Empty nester:
Our kids are now young adults in college. Our daughter is in nursing school, and our son is studying finance, both in different states. As a result, this is a new phase in life with an empty nest takes time to get used to.
As working parents, finding a balance between career and parenting was always a challenge. Our lives were packed with competitive dance, hockey, and lacrosse. We spent countless hours driving to practices and traveling for tournaments, all while ensuring school remained a top priority. For 18 years, parenting was non-stop, leaving little time for the things we once loved before kids.
Before kids, we played golf, worked out, completed lots of DIY projects and traveled, just to name a few. I remember getting together with friends every week for dinner or parties.

After having kids, everything changed, and they became the center of our world. We spent years cheering on our daughter at dance competitions and supporting our son through hockey and lacrosse. My house was rarely in perfect shape, meals were often eaten in the car, and our days were a whirlwind of getting the kids where they needed to be. Every moment, every week revolved around them. Despite the chaos, I reflect on those years with so much love. Our family is incredibly close, we talk every day, but I can’t help but miss those days—the mess, the hustle, and most of all, them.
